Tour Description

In Nuuk, you’ll experience Greenland’s modern life up close to nature. The city offers both culture and history, and you'll spend some time exploring before heading out through the Nuuk Fjord—one of the world’s largest fjord systems, surrounded by cliffs, low-lying tundra, and drifting ice. After 2–3 hours of sailing, you arrive at our remote camp, where comfortable glamping tents await.

The camp is set in the heart of Greenland’s backcountry—far from the sounds of the city and close to nature. Here, there’s plenty of time to relax and enjoy the surroundings, but also opportunities to be active. You can try kayaking or paddleboarding on the fjord, take short hikes in the varied landscape, or cast a line and fish in the clear water. The atmosphere is laid-back, and everything moves at a gentle pace.

Next, the journey continues north to Ilulissat—a town famous for its icebergs and stunning scenery. You’ll stay at the cozy Hotel Icefiord, with views over Disko Bay and the drifting icebergs. From here, you’ll sail among the icebergs and hike out to the edge of the Icefjord via the old Inuit settlement of Sermermiut. As a special finale, you’ll sail to the Eqi Glacier, where you can witness the glacier calving up close and see the ice break off and crash into the sea.

This is a journey where you’ll experience both relaxation and adventure, as well as Greenland’s unique landscapes—without compromising on comfort.

Extend Your Trip in Greenland?

Do you feel the trip is too short and wish to extend your journey? Whether it’s to another destination in Greenland, feel free to ask us. We have extensive knowledge of Greenland and can easily and quickly guide you.

Season and practical info

Greenland is a truly unique destination—magnificent, but not always easy to visit. That’s part of its charm. Our travel advisors are happy to help you tailor a journey that matches your wishes and interests. As part of our service, we will also guide you on the best time to plan your trip, ensuring you return home with the best possible experiences.

When is the best time to travel?

This journey can be taken year-round, but the summer months—especially July and August—are the best for weather and outdoor activities in Nuuk Fjord. During this period, you’ll enjoy mild temperatures, long days, and the best opportunities for kayaking, hiking, and experiencing Greenland’s spectacular nature.

Weather in Nuuk

Nuuk, Greenland’s vibrant capital, experiences a true Arctic climate with cool, fresh air and dramatic seasonal changes. Summer brings long, bright days, with temperatures typically ranging from 5 to 15°C in July and August. The city comes alive with color and activity, making it the perfect time for outdoor adventures like sailing, fishing, and city walks. While the weather can change quickly, these months offer the most pleasant conditions for exploring Nuuk Fjord and enjoying the lively atmosphere of the city.

Weather in Ilulissat and Disko Bay

Ilulissat and the Disko Bay area are best visited in the summer, when the climate is mild and the days are long. From June to September, temperatures usually stay between 5 and 15°C, and the weather invites you to spend time outdoors—whether you’re hiking, sailing among icebergs, or watching for whales. August and September bring slightly shorter days and a softer, warmer light, while late summer can be especially atmospheric with the first chances to see the northern lights. The summer months are also ideal for visiting the Eqi Glacier and exploring the small settlements along the coast.

Midnight Sun in Ilulissat

In Ilulissat, the midnight sun shines from late May to late July, with the sun never setting and the landscape bathed in a unique Arctic light. This gives you extra time to experience nature, as the scenery changes character throughout the day and night. The endless daylight is perfect for making the most of outdoor activities and soaking in the beauty of the icefjord and surrounding wilderness.

Practical info

Mobile Phone
There is mobile coverage in the towns, but not necessarily outside the urban areas, in the mountains, or on the water. Wi-Fi is available at the hotels, though the connection can sometimes be unstable. There is no mobile coverage or Wi-Fi at Camp Kangiusaq.

If you need a Greenlandic SIM card, we recommend Tusass eSIM packages. See prices and packages here (affiliate link)..

Access to Electricity

It is possible to charge digital camera batteries at the hotels (with your own charger). However, access to electricity cannot be provided during your stay at Glacier Lodge Eqi, as electricity is only produced for short periods during the day by a generator. Therefore, consider bringing extra batteries for this stay.

Please note that the price of the trip is a starting price, as there may be additional charges for a more expensive flight ticket type or a different cabin/room standard, depending on availability at the time of booking. You are, of course, only committed to purchasing the trip AFTER you have confirmed any possible surcharge. The starting price is indicated for the low season in Greenland.

We reserve the right to make changes. Please be aware that a trip like this depends on good weather conditions. Therefore, some changes to the program may occur. Delays and cancellations can happen, especially when traveling by plane or ship.
